Ever wondered about the mysteries lurking beneath the blue waters of the Salton Sea? How about what the bottom sediments look like since the most recent flooding of 1905? Believe it or not, the Salton Sea is actually the perfect natural classroom and laboratory– whether you are interested in chemistry, ecology, history and/or the arts. Scientists Charlie Diamond (postdoc) and Caroline Hung (doctoral student) from UC-Riverside are excited to bring the Salton Sea to you. In this session, you will get to witness behind-the-scenes details of their field expeditions at the Salton Sea along with some fun activities involving Salton Sea water and sediments.
