Join La Quinta’s Creation Station on Thursday, February 9, from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A visit to Professor Verne’s corner will give you skills to make a mini top hat while at Miss Ada’s studio you can learn to make a clockwork brooch or lapel pen inspired by Steampunk literature.
The “Steampunk Haberdashery” is open to all ages but is recommended for 6 years and older. This program ties into the La Quinta Book Fest, February 6-11 at the La Quinta Library.
What is STEAMPUNK? It is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retro futuristic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
For the craft program, you can visit Professor Verne’s corner where you can learn how to construct a mini top hat out of laser cut pieces of foam and hot glue. Decorate your new chapeau with bits and bobs to add a steampunk flair. Or you can visit Miss Ada’s studio to create a clockwork broach or lapel pin inspired by Steampunk literature.
This craft program is FREE while supplies last and recommended for patrons ages 6 and older.
The Creation Station is located inside the La Quinta Public Library across the hall from the Community Program Room.
